This was to be our home for the next 10 years. It is located in a beautiful downtown area in Calgary next to the Bow River, bike paths and parks. Then disaster. Forced out of our home for the last two years, we're starting to see how we might return soon. Why not share our lessons with other owners and maybe help someone else before it happens to them? It is the only upside to this story. There is no win-win. You can't mediate whether you should be allowed to live in your home.

2009 and at a Standstill
During 2009 nothing happened inside or outside. We were unable to repair the interior because board delayed repairing exterior deficiencies that had to be fixed first. By the fall of 2009 we had been to Court twice under provisions of the Condominium Act of Alberta. By the end of the year, a bunch of the items had been addressed by the board but not entirely. It was a wasted year and everything remained in storage and we continued to rent elsewhere while being required to pay condominium fees for our home that we could not live in. That made no sense but the board denied any relief whatsoever.
